Scotland of Asia (Vagamon)

Vagamon is also known as the Scotland of Asia. Vagamon is located in Kottayam -Idukki border. Its main area including Vagamon town is located in Perumedu taluk and the rest is in Meenachil taluk and Kanjirapilly taluk. Vagamon is an all-season destination though traveling during the monsoon is a bit difficult. Vagamon is 1002 meters above sea level. The temperature there varies from 10-20 degrees celsius. Ulipoonni wildlife sanctuary, Vagamon meadows, Pine valley, Thangalpara, Kurishumala, etc are the main attraction here. Paragliding and similar adventure activities are also available here

My experience.

Few days before me with my friends planned a trip to Vagamon. Vagamon is just 60 km away from our home town Muvattupuzha. We decided to travel via motorcycle. In my personal opinion trips to hill stations should be on a motorcycle. we started our journey at 9 o clock morning. we reached Vagamon town by 11 o clock morning. Firstly we visited Vagamon meadows. we spent almost 2hours there. Though there is nothing much to see in meadows, the mist and cool breeze will not allow us to leave there without spending a good amount of time. Then we had our lunch from a 'Thattukada' in Vagamon town.

After lunch, we went to Thangalpara. We have to walk for almost 2 km to reach the top of Thangalpara. Thangalpara is a Muslim sacred location. there is a small mosque on the hilltop. The view from Thangalpara is awesome. Besides cool breeze here is highly refreshing. The view from the hilltop and cool breeze there will reduce our tiredness caused by hill climbing.

After an adventurous hill climb at Thangalpara, we went to the most exotic spot of Vagamon (personal opinion) Pine valley. Pine Valley is very beautiful. We reached there by 4:30 pm, evening. We saw many tourists taking selfies and photographs. We too took some photographs there. The pathway of the pine valley is slightly slippery due to the thick layer of fallen leaves of pine trees. Those who go to Vagamon should surely visit Pine valley. Simply sitting there can make you relaxed. we left there at 6 o clock evening. we reached home at almost 9.0 clock. If you guys wish to go to almost all spots of Vagamon you should schedule a 2 or more days trip. Vagamon is a wonderful location for family trips, college trips, or even school trips.
